In science we are learning all about cells. Mr. Kirste gave us a project to do, and it was to make an edible cell. My group's cell was made of brownies. We used a lot of candy, and ate a lot of it too! I thought this project was cool because we were able to eat it and share with each other. We had to make labels saying what each edible piece represented.

DNA Unit
In science class we are learning about genes, and DNA. We learned that DNA is made of four bases, adenine, thymine, guanine, and cytosine. Adenine always goes with thymine and guanine always goes with cytosine. We also learned that DNA is shaped like a twisted ladder and is called a double helix. We used magnets to make DNA and we extracted DNA from a strawberry. DNA has a genetic code and we learned how that code works. If one of the pairs of bases switches, it is called a mutation. I like this unit because It was fun getting the DNA out of the strawberry and seeing what DNA really looks like. |
Adaptation Unit
In science we are learning about animal adaptations. We were given an animal and had to do a puppet show about its adaptations. The puppet show had to be 2 min. long and have a song. The song my group chose was "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey. I chose this project because I had fun singing about adaptations. |
